The Wolfman is a remake of 1941’s classic horror film The Wolf Man. Joe Johnston directs the remake and it stars Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving, and Art Malik.

This keeps the plotline of the first film. Set in 1880s, Lawrence Talbot, played by del Toro, is reunited with his estranged father, played by Hopkins, after his bro mysteriously disappears. He came from Blackmore where he spent decades getting over his mother’s death. Gwen Conliffe, played by Blunt, the fiance of Talbot’s bro tracks him down and looks for his help to find her pledged. Talbot returns home only to find out that something with brute strength and insatiable blood lust is killing the townspeople. Alberline ( Weaving ), the suspicious Scotland Yard inspector has come to investigate.

The production for the remake of The Wolfman commenced in March 2006. Del Toro was attached to the project. He’s a collector of The Wolfman memorabilia and is a fan of the original film. The original screenwriter was Andrew Kevin walker but he got replaced by David Self after the latter was hired by Johnston. Johnston also bested out other hopeful directors like James Mangold and Frank Darabont. promo vid director Mark Romanek was set to direct The Wolfman but he backed out because of creative differences.

Shooting was from march 3 to June three and it took place in the united kingdom. The film had an $85 million US budget. Make up master Rick Baker was the man behind the make up for The Wolfman. The minute Baker discovered that Universal had the rights to remake the film, he volunteered his services. According to him, The Wolf Man and Frankenstein were the 2 films that provoked him to be a make up artist.
